I was delighted to present my most recent research on 'Conservatism and Mental Health Policy Across the UK' at Old College, University of Edinburgh. The core findings suggest that Conservative parties across the UK diverge in their approaches to mental health policy.
Welcome
I’m Danny Bowman, Head of Strategy and Research at the Conservative Mental Health Group and a PhD Researcher at the University of Liverpool. My previous roles include serving as Director of Mental Health and Head of Campaigns at the Parliament Street think tank.
I am committed to advancing mental health policy and practice in the UK and around the world. Across the last ten years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders – from senior advisors in No.10 to leading private and voluntary sector organisations, providing insight and strategy on key policy initiatives. My drive is rooted in personal experience, having faced mental health issues during my teenage years. I’ve since dedicated myself to raising awareness and contributing practical solutions that support individuals and families facing similar challenges. This has included sharing my own story across national and international media platforms, as well as speaking at academic and industry conferences to help reduce stigma and inspire action.
